Rosi is a founding member of Sowing the Seeds. A
Tucsonan, Rosi is the daughter of a Spanish immigrant mother and Mexican
American father and is a researcher with the UA's Southwest Institute for
Research on Women (SIROW). Rosi has numerous published academic articles and
chapters, including "The formation of a code of ethics for Latina/Chicana
Scholars: The experience of melding personal lessons into professional
ethics" published in Frontiers: a
Journal of Women Studies and included in the Kennedy Institute of Ethics
library. Rosi co-founded Sowing the Seeds in 2000.
Currently
Dr. Andrade is Director of two federally-funded HIV prevention projects: Mujer Sana ~ Healthy Woman, a Substance Abuse and Mental Health
Services Administration funded project that serves over 800 women in Tucson and HerStory to Health. These
participatory action research projects deliver curriculum on health and social
relationships and provide voluntary health screening. Dr.
Andrade has adapted and translated to Spanish the Mujer Sana HIV/AIDS and STD
prevention curriculum in Mujer Saludable, and developed a pilot project for
Spanish speaking Latinas.
